LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) - A light snowfall on Monday night served as a reminder - winter is on its way. The Lake George Carnival is cooking up a storm before things get cold enough to, hopefully, freeze the lake. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! On Monday, Nov. 20, tickets go on sale for two parts of the 2024 carnival, starting with the annual carnival cook-offs. Every weekend of the monthlong festival, local restaurants stand off to see who can cook up the best chili, chowder, and other piping-hot choices at Shepard Park. Tickets for the cook-offs sell out every year. Tickets will also go up for the Lake George Winter Carnival 2024 souvenir mug. If you don't want to wait to reserve a spot for a carnival attraction, the good news is that you don't have to. Registration is open now for the carnival outhouse races, set for two Saturdays - Feb. 3 and Feb. 17. Registration is priced at $150 per outhouse. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - It's full steam ahead for the Albany Train Show on November 18 at the Polish Community Center. Ahead of the event, NEWS10's Cassie Hudson sat down with Jeff Stedge, an organizer, to learn more about the holiday tradition.According to Stedge, there will be working model trains in O, HO and N gauges and more than 100 vendor tables of trains and train-related items. The service line was temporarily suspended due to safety concerns caused by structure issues with a privately owned, non-Amtrak building above the Empire Line tracks in New York City. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The family of a paralyzed 11-year old girl is encouraged by a police social media post.Kansas City Police have released a series of photos from Nov. 1, showing two cars of interest. Detectives believe they’re related to a drive-by-shooting that left 11-year old Lauren Reddick unable to walk.Police records indicate that shooting happened near E. 80th Street and Hickman Mills Drive. SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — A U.S. tourist died in the Bahamas after a catamaran carrying more than 100 people sank while traveling to a private island, police said Wednesday.Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings told The Associated Press that the unidentified 74-year-old woman was from Broomfield and was on a five-day vacation with her family when the catamaran sank late Tuesday morning.The rest of the passengers and crew members were rescued. Richard Clark found himself homeless after he says an injury prevented him from working. For the past year, a purple shed in North Hollywood’s Chandler Blvd. Tiny Home Village has been his temporary home.At just 64 square feet with two beds, it isn’t much.
